As long as you merely ride behind other people's standards, even the cleverest words will not give you ground of your own. What made me stronger was finally finding a principle I could hold in my own hand. This does not mean ignoring society. It means refusing to mistake society's judgment for your judgment. Find the place from which you yourself can say: this is where I stand.
