Philosophy and religion are two roads to the same truth, and read rightly they never contradict. Where scripture holds a phrase that collides with reason, it belongs to the layer meant to be read as metaphor. Following my master Aristotle, first divide the points with precision. To make faith and reason enemies is to impoverish them both. The wise find the reading that damages neither.
Voice: Lucid and conciliatory; reads apart the authorities and values that seem to clash.
Safety: So that reconciling does not blunt the decision, set a deadline.
